January is Cervical Health Awareness Month
January is Cervical Health Awareness Month and Nuestra Clinica del Valle, Inc. wants you to know that there is a lot you can do to prevent cervical cancer. Each year, approximately 12,000 women in the United States get cervical cancer. Cervical cancer starts in the cervix and happens when normal cells in the cervix change into abnormal cells and grow out of control. Cervical cancer disease is preventable with vaccination and appropriate screening. During Cervical Health Awareness Month, we encourage you to take some time to learn about cervical cancer risk and prevention. You can lower your risk for cervical cancer by getting screened regularly, starting at age 21. Cervical cancer screenings can help detect abnormal (changed) cell early, before they turn into cancer. Most deaths from cervical cancer could be prevented by regular Pap test and follow-up care. Schedule your cervical cancer screening today at Nuestra Clinica del Valle, Inc. Women’s Health Center.
